Yes, you have it right. As long as you genuinely intend to fulfil all your assignments, and you're not signing up so many times over that if some unexpected event took you offline there'd be an unmanageably large number of pinch hits, I have no problem at all with it. (I probably wouldn't have a mention of socks in the rules at all if it weren't for the fact that Round 1 started at a time when there were some pretty serious sock army issues being discovered in Yuletide and Chocolate Box.)
