The nominator has replied in another subthread. For what it's worth, though, I'd definitely interpret "The Future" as being beyond the final installment of the canon. There's a similar situation in "The Culture - Iain M. Banks", in which each book is set several centuries after the last. However, the tag there is ever-so-slightly more specific in asking for the "far" future.
