Worldbuilding Exchange

Everybody is matchable in terms of having at least one person they can create for, so no need to check your e-mails. There's quite a bit of work I still need to do on the back end but I'm hoping to get assignments out by 2300 UTC. Initial pinch hits will follow in the (UTC) morning.

Thanks to the unmatchable participants replying very promptly, assignments are now ready! I very much hope you enjoy creating something for your recipient.

I will also open the collection for uploading, just in case inspiration strikes anyone immediately. I am not putting the collection on moderated this year -- it seems that while this makes it marginally easier to fix the "reveals bug" on the mod end, this doesn't actually prevent its worst effects (immediately sending a non-anonymous gift notification email to the recipient). The only way to avoid it entirely is to save your work as a draft first when uploading and check that the "This work is part of an ongoing challenge and will be revealed soon ..." message appears. ETA: Obviously, these assignments are going out somewhat earlier than the originally stated date of the 1st. If you are looking at a locked/placeholder letter, please be patient until then. You are welcome to contact me to let me know in advance, but I won't be contacting anyone about such issues until that date.

The first stage of matching has run (very quickly! :D). Unfortunately, this year a fairly significant number of participants do not have anyone to create for based on their initial set of offers.

I have emailed all the people affected. Please check the email associated with your AO3 account. Given the relatively large numbers, I will be giving people 48 hours to respond to this email before regretfully deciding that I will have to delete their sign ups to allow assignments to be generated.

If everyone involved responds promptly, assignments may go out earlier than that, but don't expect them before Thursday.

ETA: Whoooops, I was wrong! Everyone is matchable as a creator, there just need to be some double assignments and initial pinch hits to make things work. I forgot that AO3 just doesn't show categories on the matching screen if there's nothing in them so got mixed up between "No Recipient" and "No Potential Recipient". You can disregard any email I sent earlier. Apologies for any unnecessary alarm, and thanks to the people who responded quickly and made me realise the mistake.

I clearly need some sleep so I won't try to finish matching immediately, but assignments should be out within 24 hours.
