More seriously, I had in fact just approved it before I even saw this message, though I did umm and ahh a little first. The conclusion I came to was that that AOS's status as a branch of the main Trek timeline means that characters who are known to have been alive in the main Trek timeline before the point of divergence and not very obviously butterflied out of existence by it are implied to still exist in that timeline, whether they've actually appeared in the new canon or not.
(I didn't know that about her meeting Bones in the books. That's cool.)
