There doesn't seem to be a way to request "Any" for characters/worldbuilding; is this on purpose to make matching easier or accidental? (Fine by me either way, just means I have to writhe in agony for a bit trying to decide what I want most!)

Yeah, that's a deliberate decision. Participants misunderstanding what their "Any" request means is a big enough problem in exchanges that don't have the potential confusion of a tag like the "No Characters" one. I only recently came round to deciding to allow "Any" offers in my last pass through the rules, I just didn't advertise that change as much as some of the others.

You can make multiple requests for the same fandom to cover all your bases if you want (unless you're planning to do both Middle Earths and SSSS, I suppose). And as a general principle, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if your creator made you something they hadn't formally matched with you on, if it was because you'd explained in your ODs that you'd run out of slots and you actually loved I, J and K just as much as A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H.

That's fair enough and makes plenty of sense! I came a bit late to this exchange so I probably should have spent more time reading the guidelines. Thanks for clarifying. (Now I just have to write up all my ODs...)
