Tag set open for nominations

The tag set is now open for nominations, and will close at 0755 UTC on Monday 10th Jan (amended from original schedule to allow for AO3 issues). Countdown to close of nominations here.

The official guidelines on nominating are here and a detailed guide to nominating for new participants (made in 2021, but there are no changes for this year) can be found here.

Brief reminders:

• Fandom names should make clear what the scope of the intended source material is*
  
• Please disambiguate all character and worldbuilding tags with the name of their fandom in parentheses after them
  
• Worldbuilding tags go in the "Relationship" fields with "WB: " at the start - please do not nominate actual A/B, C&D, etc. relationships
  
• All fandoms need to have "Original Character(s) (Name of Fandom)", "Any or No Characters (Name of Fandom)" and at least one worldbuilding tag
  
• Other types of "Any" tags are allowed in the Character field to specify types of character, e.g. "Any Halfling(s)", "Any Space Marine(s)"
  
• AUs (except those which appear within canon, like Star Trek's Mirror Universe) and RPF are outside the scope of the exchange

*A quick note on fandom names for Original Works: the tag set seems to be more manageable for participants when these are split up by subgenre, so please do use fandom tags like "Original Work - Pulp SF" rather than just "Original Work". I will default to approving whatever participants choose to use, even if they seem similar to existing ones in the tag set, rather than try to act as an arbiter of genre boundaries. If, once the tag set starts to take shape, you end up feeling that your nominations could be folded into another category that has been nominated by someone else, let me know and I will do so behind the scenes.

Please feel free to use the comments of this post for queries, to help me understand anything that you think is potentially complicated about your nominations, and for co-ordination between participants to avoid unnecessary duplication.

Finally, please do be patient while waiting for your nominations to be dealt with - it is fairly likely that this year, I will be approving in larger batches but somewhat more infrequently than I have managed in some previous rounds.

Clarification of "WB: Second Book of Aristotle's Poetics (Name of the Rose)"

Hi! I am the nominator of "WB: Second Book of Aristotle's Poetics (Name of the Rose)." To clarify: In reality, the second book of the Poetics, on comedy, is lost. In The Name of the Rose, a manuscript of the text still exists and plays a major role in the plot.

Thanks for the extra information. Is there sufficient information within The Name of the Rose about the fictional contents of the book to allow someone to extrapolate from that, or would doing so primarily constitute real-world-based research? If the latter, I think it shades into the same reasons that RPF is disallowed in the exchange.

Clarification on "WB: Moons (Final Fantasy XIV)". (Endwalker spoilers follow.)

In canon, we have seen two moons, and both of them turned out to be magically created prisons for dark gods, not natural satellites. I'm looking for worldbuilding about whether that's just how moons are in this universe, whether there are other moons around and what they might have inside them, and how people might react to discovering what's up with the moons.

ETA: are you also the nominator for the two character tags "Nael van Darnus | Eula Darnus (Final Fantasy XIV)" and "Nael van Darnus | Eula's Brother (Final Fantasy XIV)"? If so, can you explain the distinction between them? I've tried reading the wiki and it looks like it might be about inconsistencies between versions in different languages; I will admit to being somewhat confused.

Yes, that's me. I can try to explain, but I'm not sure I can do it much more coherently. It originally came out of a translation error, but current canon is the same across all languages.

Original!Nael is Eula's brother. He died about 20 years before the start of canon. Eula assumed his identity after his death. Every time "Nael" appears on screen, which was fairly frequently because he was the villain of 1.0, it's actually the person originally known as Eula. (Eula's ghost consistently identifies as Nael and refers to their life using male pronouns, but whether this indicates male identity or just getting really into the role is controversial in the fandom.)

So the distinction is that one died around 20 and never appears onscreen, and the other was the main villain of 1.0 and has been showing up occasionally ever since. But one of them is impersonating the other in all their actual appearances.

I'm trying to add a fandom to my list of nominations and I'm getting the error message:

Worldbuilding Exchange 2021 tag set is not currently accepting nominations.

I had to manually go to the Edit Tags page because four of my fandoms were approved before I went back to add the fifth one, so maybe that has something to do with it?

EDIT: It helps to actually remember that it's 2022, dear self, and you're editing the wrong tags. Whoops. Disregard.

I was nominating Pokemon but it says that original characters and any or no are already nominated - I took them out but I want you to know I tried! I don't know if it'll matter with the stuff that's already pending per the earlier post. But just in case.

That's odd; what fandom name were you nominating under? I wonder if someone else has nominated the same tags disambiguated the same way for a different Pokemon fandom ...

ETA: Ah ha, I managed to get your nominations and the other Pokemon nominator's on the same page; they've used the canonical "Pocket Monsters | Pokemon (Main Video Game Series)" (I was abbreviating in the post above). I'll combine your noms with theirs when I've cleared down "Already Approved Fandoms" by ... a lot.

In the interests of avoiding any confusion, the struck-through parenthetical in the first line is because I very belatedly noticed that in c&ping from last year I had included it when it was no longer required.
