Nominations are now open here. Full nominations information is available in this section of this round's rules post; this post is intended to summarise the most important points, particularly where there are differences from what is typical in most other exchanges.
You can nominate up to five fandoms, with seven character slots and five "worldbuilding" slots (using the AO3 relationship fields) for each.
Fandom names used should make it clear what the scope of the source material intended is. This may mean using AO3 non-canonicals. It is OK in this exchange for nominated fandoms to overlap in whole or in part (e.g. "Star Wars - Movies Only", "Star Wars - Legends", "Star Wars - New EU" would have some elements in common and others not). Crossovers are OK if and only if the crossover happened in canon; in this case, nominate under both fandoms, divided by a / (e.g. "How To Get Away With Murder/Scandal").
Please do:
Please don't:
This post doubles as an evidence post and a brainstorming post. Feel free to comment here to provide extra information you think may help me deal with your nominations, or to discuss with other fans how best to organise your shared fandoms.
I will post clarifications posts regularly during the tag set sorting period; please keep an eye on the comm to see if any of your tags appear with issues or queries.
*Please note that I will be changing how I approach the tag set behind the scenes (in particular, I am trying to build the spreadsheet as I go), which means that it is likely there will be a slightly longer wait for your tags to be approved compared to previous years.
Nominations will close at 1655 UTC on Wednesday 15th January (countdown).

Please do:
- disambiguate all tags with the name of the fandom (please ignore the instructions on the nomination page itself to choose AO3 canonicals - these only occasionally have the disambiguations; unfortunately, this is standard AO3 text that I can't override)
- nominate the two "default" character tags used in the exchange -- "Original Character(s) (name of fandom)" and "Any or No Characters (name of fandom)" -- in each fandom you nominate
- preface all worldbuilding tags with "WB: "
- double check that your character tags are in character fields and your worldbuilding tags are in relationship fields (on the approval interface, I have no way to see which tags were nominated as which)
- be patient while waiting for your tags to be approved*
Please don't:
- nominate actual relationships (e.g. A/B, C&D) in the Relationship fields
- nominate RPF, or worldbuilding tags for close-to-real-world canons that would similarly constitute solely RL research with no use of creativity to answer the questions
- nominate AU ideas, unless the AU in question appears within the canon
- nominate fandoms without at least one worldbuilding tag

Dreaming of Sunshine eligibility
Date: 2020-01-07 06:17 pm (UTC)In addition to just wanting to make sure it's okay for us to nominate in this fandom, "Dreaming of Sunshine - Silver Queen" is synned to "Naruto" so we'll need to pick a different tag to nominate under unless you want to associate everything directly behind the scenes /o\ "Dreaming of Sunshine - Silver Queen (fanfic)" and several other version have been used previously.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Re: Dreaming of Sunshine eligibility
Date: 2020-01-07 10:19 pm (UTC)No problem at all on nominating it, but yes, please do use an unsynned tag as I really don't want to be having to unpick a whole tangle of associations.

Date: 2020-01-07 10:55 pm (UTC)Amalgam & Warp World
Date: 2020-01-07 11:45 pm (UTC)Can I nominate theoretical characters where we don't know who the character was merged with? Either with the other half being specified in the nomination or up to the writer?
For Amalgam specifically, can I nominate theoretical merged events from Marvel and DC?
Re: Amalgam & Warp World
Date: 2020-01-08 08:22 am (UTC)I think these would be very much in line with other Specific Original Character noms we've had in the past, so that's fine, as long as they're phrased clearly.
For Amalgam specifically, can I nominate theoretical merged events from Marvel and DC?
Are you thinking of things like (as an example) an Amalgam take on the Secret Wars/Convergence planet-made-of-different-bits-of-continuity thing? I don't see why not (as worldbuilding tags), again as long as the tags are sufficiently clear that someone could make an informed decision about whether to request or offer them.

Date: 2020-01-08 07:38 pm (UTC)Sorry if you addressed this matter already this year, but I can’t seem to search the community other than hitting ctrl + F on every page (which I did try).

Date: 2020-01-08 08:14 pm (UTC)Re: Harry Potter Split?
Date: 2020-01-08 11:17 pm (UTC)For example, if we just have Harry Potter as one category, people can avoid the characters they don’t want and DNW Pottermore and JKR tweets etc. It doesn’t look like most people wanted Pottermore included last year anyway, so I’m not sure that would be a big issue. Or we could split it and have “Harry Potter Books,” “Harry Potter Visual Media” or “Harry Potter Canon” (which would include the movies and games but not Pottermore) and “Harry Potter - All Media Types” (which would include Pottermore and the like).

Date: 2020-01-09 02:59 am (UTC)Re: Harry Potter Split?
Date: 2020-01-09 12:58 pm (UTC)For what it's worth, I would strongly prefer not to see those sorts of DNW for this exchange; one of the main points of organising the tag set in this rather unusual way is to allow people to actively match on both the requesting and offering side with people who are on the same page as them about which bits of canon they're considering.
Re: Harry Potter Split?
Date: 2020-01-08 08:33 pm (UTC)The split between "Harry Potter - Books 1-7", "Harry Potter - Wizarding World (including Pottermore)" and "Harry Potter - Wizarding World (No Pottermore)" that we've had in the previous two rounds seemed to work well, but it may be that people want to subdivide things further and be clearer about whether they're including (or not) Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts. I'm very relaxed about fandoms overlapping with each other.

(Last night someone thought I meant Natasha from MCU as a crossover)

Date: 2020-01-09 10:35 pm (UTC)They definitely are, but I'm holding off approving them because I'm considering how to structure it -- some nominators have started creating more specific OW fandom tags with genres in (e.g. I've just seen "Original Work - Fantasy/Sci-Fi" on the latest refresh of the approval screen).
I'm taking views on it on this post I've just put up if you want to chime in, and will make a final decision on Saturday. But Original Works will definitely be in the tag set in one form or another in the end.

Date: 2020-01-10 10:33 pm (UTC)I see from a quick glance at the wiki that "Aligned continuity" is clearly in use to refer to all this by at least some of the fandom, but also that "Hasbro has not given this family an official title". Can I just double check that you're confident that people who might be looking at the Transformers fandoms in the tag set with a view to requesting or offering them will understand what's meant here?

Date: 2020-01-12 01:47 am (UTC)Mentioned because I'm planning to nominate other related tags/characters & hoped to request her under the Movies Only fandom.
Re: SW subdivisions query
Date: 2020-01-12 12:27 pm (UTC)I've doublechecked my spreadsheet and the nominated tag was definitely nominated under "New EU". If you want to be able to use the tag under "Movies Only", you'll have to nominate it yourself (or find someone to do so for you, if you're already out of slots).
Evidence: The Ink Beast Parade
Date: 2020-01-12 03:55 pm (UTC)An article with large versions of the advertisements
Public Domain Review piece with additional images
I used labels from the images themselves (i.e. "The only heliotrope cow in the world") to label them, or if there wasn't a label, a combo of a colour used and the animal (golden yellow bear), but if you need more specifics, please let me know.

Date: 2020-01-12 11:04 pm (UTC)The Heartstrikers and DFZ are two series by Rachel Aaron. They're set several decades apart in the same world. Since the world is the same, and the worldbuilding points I nominated appear across both series, I wanted to nominate them as a group.

Date: 2020-01-15 05:40 am (UTC)There are still a number of DC live action properties that aren't Arrowverse canon. I can make a list for you, but the biggest ones missing are the Dark Knight Trilogy, Watchmen, and the 70s Wonder Woman show, but there is more missing than that.
Also, a heads up that as of tonight the world that Arrow/Flash/Legends of Tomorrow/Batwoman took place on, Supergirl's Earth, and Black Lightning Earth have all been merged into a single Earth designated Earth-Prime, with massive status quo changes and complete histories altered. I don't know if you want to give a heads up to requesters only asking for a single show that they might want to specify Pre-Crisis or Post-Crisis since it's such a big change.
